General Summary:

The Maintenance Manager will lead and oversee all maintenance operations within our MRO facility. This role ensures that all maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, etc.), OEM specifications, and internal quality systems. The Maintenance Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians and support staff, driving performance, safety culture, and continuous improvement across all maintenance functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions:

Operational Leadership

Direct and oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.

Develop and manage short- and long-term maintenance plans to optimize labor efficiency and minimize downtime.

Ensure timely execution of work packages, work orders, and return-to-service documentation.

Assist in developing department budget and forecasting annual expected sales volume and profit in order to achieve department gross profit quota objectives

Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless workflow and resource availability.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA, EASA, ICAO, and other applicable regulatory bodies.

Maintain a strong safety culture by enforcing adherence to safety protocols, hazard reporting, and root cause analysis of incidents.

Prepare for and participate in audits by regulatory authorities, customers, and internal quality teams.

Team Management & Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and support staff.

Utilize the skills assessment tool to foster employee career development, establish shop capability goals and achieve shop-training standards

Conduct regular performance reviews, skills assessments, and training plans to ensure technical proficiency and career development.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the primary point of contact for customer maintenance programs, ensuring clear communication and high satisfaction.

Provide regular updates on project status, KPIs, and operational challenges to senior leadership and clients.

Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and third-party service providers to resolve technical issues and improve service delivery.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Control

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce turnaround time (TAT), and control costs.

Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive operational excellence.

Monitor and report on departmental KPIs, including productivity, reliability, quality, and budget adherence.

Job Specific Requirements:

Licenses:

A&P License required

I.A. authorization preferred

Competencies:

Ability to communicate well

Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

Organizational & problem solving skills with attention to detail

Must possess a positive attitude and ability to work to meet key deliverables and objectives

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public.

Physical:

Regularly sits, or stands for periods of time

Routinely lifts up to 10 lbs, occasionally up to 25 lbs.

Reach with hands and arms to grasp and pull

Climb or balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl

Reads, writes, speaks and understands English fluently

Visual acuity correctable to 20/20

Limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, and loud noises

Other:

Ability to attain & retain AOA badge or Airport requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering or a related technical field preferred (or equivalent military/civilian experience)

7-10 years of progressive aircraft/general aviation maintenance experience with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role

Thorough knowledge of FARs 43, 91, 135, 145.

Strong knowledge of commercial and/or military aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and documentation standards.

Proven experience managing MRO operations, including heavy checks, modifications, and component overhaul.
