The Position
As an Avionics Technician III, you will apply advanced technical skills to perform avionics maintenance in compliance with FAA, FCC, and company regulations. This role involves installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex avionics systems and components. You will also be responsible for maintaining calibration on test equipment, managing tools, and keeping technical manuals up to date to ensure peak performance and safety.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform avionics maintenance and repairs in compliance with FAA, FCC, and company regulations
Install, troubleshoot, test, and repair avionics components and systems
Interpret and work from technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals
Route and secure wiring according to technical drawings
Maintain, calibrate, and operate avionics test equipment and tools
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, especially in handling hazardous materials and working in high-noise/outdoor environments
Support aviation safety by inspecting aircraft structures, systems, and components
Operate or supervise the use of vehicles, machinery, or heavy equipment as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities
No immediate direct reports
Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 5 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Must have own tools in good working order
Ability to understand and interpret basic applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications; ability to route wires per technical drawings
Advanced skills with avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, wiring installation, soldering, and crimping techniques
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and FCC GROL (Federal Communications Commission General Radiotelephone Operator License)
Basic understanding of spectrometer, oscilloscope, and/or pitot static equipment
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Work Environment
On-site position located in Vandalia, Ohio
Compensation
Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $38-$42, with additional benefits
