We’re looking for a full-time Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) who has valid Airframe & Powerplant certification to join our Technical Operations team in one of United’s domestic HUBS. In this vital role, you will provide service and maintenance for aircraft systems, Powerplant, Airframe and Components. You’ll handle a wide variety of duties that make every day different, including inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, parts replacement and repair, as well as routine maintenance. Keeping our fleet flight-ready Strong mechanical competence and attention to detail are crucial for this critical position. Unlike smaller regional airlines, you’ll have the opportunity to work on larger, highly sophisticated aircraft with United. We will rely on you to be a great teammate, receiving and providing support as you collaborate professionally and seamlessly with your co-workers. You will generally be working out in the elements, so you must be capable of handling weather extremes. You will likely roll up your sleeves, but for those who enjoy hands-on work, it’s all part of the job. With experience, drive and determination to excel, you can move into a variety of roles, including management, inspection, quality control, fleet planning and others. After gaining seniority, you’ll have the opportunity to transfer to other locations within our outstanding network. Flexibility and dependability are essential Since this is a union position based on seniority, you will be assigned an initial schedule designed to meet our needs at the airport. You must be available for any shift within a 24/7 operation, weekends and holidays. You may be required to work mandatory overtime, when necessary. This is also a bonus eligible position (i.e. profit sharing). Overview: Job Summary The Mechanic Helper reports to the Maintenance Manager and the Director of Maintenance. Assist A&P Mechanics with aircraft and shop maintenance. The classification of this position is broad and assigned specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: Maintain all hangar and shop working areas. Perform hangar and equipment maintenance as required by operating location. Assist maintenance and line service staff as necessary. Assist A & P Mechanics with aircraft daily maintenance, aircraft unscheduled and preventative maintenance and aircraft scheduled maintenance. Assist A & P Mechanics with trouble-shooting of aircraft systems, replacing engines, transmissions and other components as necessary. Updating daily logbooks and computer as required. Various tasks as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager and Director of Maintenance. Specific Inventory Controller duties as delineated in Company’s FAA approved Inspection Procedure Manual. May come into contact with cleaning fluids, solvents oils and fuels. Able to lift 70 pounds, climb and work in high areas such as transmission decks. Able to fly on board aircraft. Able to walk up 14 foot ladders and or work stands while carrying one end of a main rotor blade and the ability to lift the main rotor blade into proper position for installation with assistance on the other end of the blade. Able to fit into tight places and work on feet during entire work shift. 40-60 hour workweek depending on workload.
